Case Study : Hilton Hotels International

For Hilton Hotels, maintaining and protecting the unique look and feel of its brand is paramount. From the main lobby to the fitness center, each and every aspect of the Hilton experience has to be in line with the overall Hilton brand. Such was the mindset that AFP brought to its work at Hilton’s Corporate Fitness Center and its historic Beverly Hilton Hotel. Through its association as the number one distributor for Precor (the exclusive and preferred equipment brand for Hilton Hotels nationwide), AFP worked closely with Hilton executives to ensure that each and every detail from equipment and flooring, to layout and decor, exuded the quality associated with the Hilton brand.

Facility Description

Hilton Hotels Corporation (NYSE:HLT) is the leading global hospitality company, with more than 2,800 hotels and 475,000 rooms in more than 80 countries.  The company owns, manages or franchises some of the best known and highly regarded hotel brands including Hilton®, Conrad®, Doubletree®, Embassy Suites Hotels®, Hampton Inn®, Hampton Inn & Suites®, Hilton Garden Inn®, Hilton Grand Vacations(TM), Homewood Suites by Hilton®, Scandic and The Waldorf-Astoria Collection(TM).

Project Summary

In a dedicated effort to enhance the wellness and vitality experience for hotel guests, Hilton Hotels Corporation in 2006 announced that industry-leading fitness equipment brand PRECOR would become the exclusive equipment utilized in all full-service Hilton, Doubletree® and Embassy Suites Hotels® in North America, as well as the legendary Waldorf-Astoria brand locations nationwide.
As PRECOR’s largest distribution partner, AFP was called upon to work closely with Hilton on equipment supply and installation as well with design and ongoing service. AFP incorporated Hilton’s specific brand standards into the design for both Hilton Headquarters as well as the recently renovated historic Beverly Hilton Hotel. 

Both facilities utilize top-of-the-line PRECOR strength and cardio equipment. In addition, state-of-the-art PRECOR entertainment elements were featured.  Cardio Theater Exercise Entertainment(TM), was incorporated for both wall-mounted plasma television and Personal Viewing Screens (LCD) on each cardiovascular machine.  Lightweight headphones are available further contributing to an enhanced workout experience for guests.  Users can choose from a variety of music genres and network entertainment.

A complement of core training, balance equipment and stretch accessories were added to round out the exercise experience for employees and guests.  Furthermore, careful attention to Hilton’s layout and design preferences resulted in devoted “stations” specific to cardio, strength and core training.
Finally, state-of-the-art fitness flooring, signage and wall paint were all given unique attention to be consistent with Hilton’s desired look and feel.

Results

AFP was successful in carrying out Hilton’s specific vision in developing stylish and functionally state-of-the-art fitness amenities for both its Beverly Hilton guests and its employees at its Beverly Hills-based corporate headquarters. Most importantly, AFP was able to remain true to the Hilton brand in terms of the overall look and feel of the facilities throughout every aspect of each facility.
