Espíritu Del Mar in Los Cabos is a new luxury community that provides an escape experience where affluent residents can get away from it all. AFP was challenged to create a one-of-a-kind wellness amenity that lives up to the level of luxury that would serve to establish this community as one of the best worldwide. From the design and layout of the entire facility and its amenities, to providing ongoing management and maintenance solutions to keep homeowners happy, AFP went above and beyond the call to help successfully deliver the Espíritu “experience” within this beautiful fitness center.

Project Summary

Espíritu Del Mar is the latest in a line of distinctive projects by Del Mar Development, the developer behind the renowned Villas Del Mar community in Los Cabos, Mexico. In one of the most incredible natural settings in the world, Espiritu Del Mar is set to provide a vibrant living community where one will enjoy stunning ocean views, discover endless ways to connect with family and friends, and create memories that will last a lifetime. An innovative community, located on the Sea of Cortez and thoughtfully designed to be as unique as its setting, Espíritu Del Mar’s goal is to offer refreshment to the soul - a place to live with spirit.

Espíritu Del Mar set its sights on providing its homeowners with amenities like no other residential community in Los Cabos. Espíritu turned to Advantage Fitness Products (AFP) to develop an exclusive fitness facility that housed the latest in high-quality fitness equipment in an environment that capitalized on breathtaking views of the Sea of Cortez and exuded the luxury and opulence that mark the entire Espiritu Del Mar “experience.”

As a high-end residential community, Espiritu’s critical business goal resides in the ability to command top dollar for each residency sale. Therefore, it was critical that the fitness center be a legitimate “selling feature” that reinforced the value and luxury identity of the entire community. However, this developer wanted much more….an experience in wellness for its residents that would ultimately help define the very spirit by which this one of a kind community was established for.

Results

With the overriding demand to deliver a luxurious fitness experience, AFP gave careful attention to the design and layout elements critical to creating the tailored esthetic and flow of this lux facility.  This began with developing a comprehensive and sophisticated layout and design plan for the facility incorporating the fitness floor, group exercise studios, and wet and looker rooms.  The “diamonds” are clearly in the details at Espiritu. AFP gave a careful focus to planning for these unique amenities exuding both quality and function at all times.

Following the phases of facility planning and design, equipment and furnishings layout came next. With energy and exercise balance as the foundation, and luxury as the “mark,” AFP provided a lineup of state-of-the-art equipment that reflected the discriminating and stylish appeal of the new community. To achieve this, AFP utilized new equipment lines from industry leaders Precor and Star Trac.. A comprehensive cardio offering, equipped with cardio theatre entertainment features was a must to allow guests to maximize the enjoyment of the training experience.  An intimate Spinning studio was established on one end of the club. On the other, a world-class Pilates & Movement room to balance these trend leading modalities.  Just outside, a hand crafted Yoga pavilion was constructed as the ultimate complement to the facility adding flexibility and meditation area. 

Specialized flooring systems serve as the basis for the entire facility. In the Spinning and Pilates studios, a wood panel sprung floor supports each of these unique training areas.  The fitness floor is composed of a virgin rubber composite surface that is not only esthetically complementary, but functionally perfect to support the demands of this dynamic area. 

The fitness rooms also provide for a full complement of free-weights and accessories, including stability balls, core strengthening tools, and stretching mats providing all necessary finishing touches to this one of a kind amenity. An underlining focus on hygiene-friendly measures which included the easy to clean rubberized fitness flooring, antimicrobial equipment mats and disinfectant handy wipe dispensers are integrated throughout the club.

To operate the facility optimally, Espíritu Del Mar will be utilizing AFP’s proprietary online FitnessFacility.com software. This online service allows facility managers password access to their manage facility equipment and service requirements, gain resource documentation, asset management reporting, and a wide variety of other operational support features. Secondly, AFP developed a comprehensive preventative maintenance program for Espíritu thus insuring maximization of equipment life, reduction in down time, and a parts stocking.
